Saudi king calls on Iran to stop 'interference'

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdul Aziz has called on Iran to “stop interfering” in the internal affairs of the region’s countries as well as supporting armed militias, the Anadolu news agency reported.

The king made the remarks during talks with visiting Turkmenistan President, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Sunday.

Remarking on the Syrian issue, the Saudi monarch expressed hope “that international efforts would result in a resolution of the Syrian crisis in accordance with the Geneva I agreement and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

The Saudi monarch also expressed hope that talks between the Yemeni parties would result in resolving the crisis there in accordance with the Gulf Cooperative Council initiative and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.

King Salman said the kingdom is looking forward to improving relations with Turkmenistan especially in the fields of trade and investment as well as the oil, gas and energy sectors and to coordinate in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
