Israel cuts electricity, water supplies to Palestinian prisoners

May 4, 2016 at 9:43 am

Israeli authorities at the Nafha Prison cut the electricity and water supplies to Palestinian inmates, the PLO’s Commission of Prisoners and Released Prisoners’ Affairs revealed yesterday.

In a statement, the committee said: “A state of tension was prevailing across the whole prison,” adding that it expects prisoners to clash with the prison administration if the amenities are not turned back on.

It held the occupation fully responsibility for the prisoners’ problems.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Prisoners Centre for Studies said that the Israeli Salim Court postponed the trial of female prisoner Ansam Shawahneh, 19, from West Bank city of Qalqilya, for the fourth time.

Shawahneh, a university student, was arrested on 9 March and accused of attempted murder after it was claimed that she was caught with a knife near the illegal settlement of Kidomim. She is also accused of being affiliated with a hostile organisation.
