Former Egyptian PM acquitted of graft charges

An Egyptian court on Wednesday acquitted the former Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif of graft and abuse of his positon, Moheet.com reported.

Nazif served as prime minister from 2004 until former president Hosni Mubarak replaced him during the popular revolution against his rule in January 2011. He was imprisoned after Mubarak was ousted.

In 2012 he was sentenced to three years in prison, but he challenged the ruling and a retrial was ordered.

In July 2015, the second court sentenced him to five years in prison. Nazif challenged the ruling again which issued a final ruling acquitting him of the charges on Wednesday.
