Arab Parliament speaker condemns torture of children in Israeli jails

May 13, 2016 at 9:11 am

Arab Parliament Speaker Ahmed Al-Jarwan condemned the repeated crimes carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities against Palestinians including arbitrary arrests and the torture of children in jails.

Al-Jarwan called on international organisation and human rights groups to speak up about such violations which he said were based on racist policies.

He welcomed the statements made by Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira who defended the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and praised the positions of a number of South American countries who reject the Israeli occupation and settlement policies.

“On behalf of the great Arab people, we thank the people and the government of Brazil for such honourable support. We, in the meantime, urge all countries of the world to follow the lead of Brazil and stand behind the just cause of the Palestinian people and their rights that are internationally enshrined, most notably; the establishment of their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
