Qatar unveiled the world’s largest key in a new bid to break the Guinness World Records at Katara Cultural Village yesterday.

The huge 7.8 metre long, 2.8 metre wide key which weighs 2.7 tonnes was unveiled as Palestinians the world over remembered Nakba Day when thousands of Palestinians were displaced from their lands during the establishment of the State of Israel.

Katara Cultural Village Director General, Dr. Khalid Al Sulaiti, said the new Guinness World Records carries symbolic value and emphasises unity and solidarity with Palestinian refugees.

The key also sends an important message of support for refugee rights, he explained.
