Leader of Jordan’s IAF party criticises closure of Muslim Brotherhood headquarters

The head of Jordan’s Islamic Action Front (IAF), the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan, has said the Jordanian police decision to shut down the Muslim Brotherhood headquarters in Amman is the result of external pressures.

Dr. Ishaq al-Farhan said in remarks to Quds Press: “The Jordanian authorities have closed the group’s headquarters following foreign pressure to crack down on the Islamic awakening.”

“The official authority’s justification for closing the group’s headquarters is not convincing. The Muslim Brotherhood has been active in Jordan since 1946 and it is not easy to deal with the group,” he said.

Al-Farhan played down the significance of the decision on the group’s popularity.

Al-Farhan explained that the crackdown on the group in Jordan is part of a wider battle against the Muslim Brotherhood due to Western influence.
