The Kurdistan Peshmerga army forces on Wednesday have repelled a massive attack by Daesh north of Mosul, killing dozens, including 11 suicide bombers, an officer in the Peshmerga forces said.

Captain Sherzad Zakhuli told Anadolu news agency that Daesh has launched an armed attack against the Peshmerga sites northwest of the city of Mosul in Nineveh province using car bombs and suicide bombers wearing explosive belts.

Zakhuli said the Peshmerga forces have repelled the attack after hours of battles, noting that a Peshmerga officer was killed and three others were injured in the clashes.

Meanwhile, an informed local source from Mosul said Daesh has detained 35 women from the city centre, to force them to marry fighters.

The unnamed source told Anadolu that Daesh fighters had taken the women to an unidentified location.

The city of Mosul, 400 north of Baghdad was the first city to be controlled by the group nearly two years ago.

Meanwhile, two people were killed and eleven were injured in two explosions in Baghdad, Colonel Zamel Alnofal of the Iraqi interior ministry said.
