Doctors in Morocco strike, demand medical supplies

May 26, 2016 at 10:55 am

Dozens of public sector doctors in Morocco organised a protest in front of the Ministry of Health in Rabat to demand better working conditions yesterday.

The participants condemned the health ministry’s failure to fulfil its commitments to provide public hospitals with the necessary equipment and medical supplies.

The 24 hour national strike was held in all hospitals except emergency rooms in response to calls from the Independent Public Service Doctors’ Union (SIMSP).

SIMPS Secretary-General Al-Montather Al-Olawi called on the health ministry to provide the necessary equipment and infrastructure in hospitals, pointing out that if these demands are not met, work efficiency will be affected and citizens will blame doctors for the poor medical service.
