A young Palestinian in the Gaza Strip is vying to become a record-breaking strongman. Mohamed Baraka is already known as the “Samson of Gaza” despite being just 20 years old and weighing 65 kilograms. He hopes to enter the Guinness World Book of Records for his feats of strength, which include pulling an 18-ton truck for 100 metres with his teeth.

Baraka can also walk and sleep on glass and nails, and regularly performs exercises with heavy weights placed on his stomach.

His father is a social councillor and gives him his full support for his strongman activities. He told MEMO that he has been behind his son since the beginning and hopes to see him become a world champion. In order to fulfil this ambition, he pointed out, his son needs sponsorship from NGOs or sports clubs.
