Turkey: American, Swedish weapons found with PKK

June 2, 2016 at 12:33 pm

Turkish security services found American and Swedish anti-tank weapons with PKK fighters in the Nusaybin district, the Anadolu Agency reported Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım saying yesterday.

Yildirim said this is against the principles of the coalition which should have a strategic partnership, noting that each partner should respect the rights of the other.

The remarks came during a joint press conference held with the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Mustafa Akinci.

Yilidrim said that his country is waiting for its allies to stand beside it in its war on terror.

“The entire world knows that the PKK is a terrorist organisation, but they [US] are hesitant to blacklist it such as PYD and YPG.”

He added: “Finding these weapons with the terrorists pushes us to wonder how did they arrived in the hands of these terrorists who pose danger to the lives of the Turkish citizens.

“It is clear that the PKK in Syria and Iraq gets these weapons under the pretext of fighting other terror groups and then they pass them to the terrorist organisations in Turkey. We will never accept this.”
