Saudi Shura Council condemns UN report on Yemen

June 7, 2016 at 9:40 am

Saudi’s Shura Council yesterday condemned a report issued by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in which he accused the Arab coalition of violating children’s rights in Yemen.

In a statement released, Shura Council Secretary-General Mohammed Al-Amr said the accusations were baseless, calling on the United Nations to review its position and obtain information from official sources; whether from the legitimate government of the Yemen, headed by President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, or from the leadership of the Arab coalition.

The Council has called on peace-loving nations to pressure Houthi forces to implement Security Council resolution 2216, hand over arms to the legitimate government and withdraw from the cities they occupied.
