55 organisations accuse the UN of bias in its humanitarian operations in Syria

Some 55 non-governmental Syrian organisations operating outside the areas under the Syrian regime’s control have accused the United Nations of being biased in its humanitarian operations in Syria.

In a report aired by the BBC yesterday, the organisations explained that “this bias comes in the form of empowering the Syrian government to take control over humanitarian aid offered to the areas that are not under the regime’s control, which enabled the government to hold a siege on those areas as a weapon of war.”

The organisations called on the United Nations to act with neutrality when managing the humanitarian operation in Syria, or stop its cooperation with the Syrian government if it refused to cooperate under terms that ensure the independence of the international organisation.
