Hamas: We are close to a new agreement with Egypt to open Rafah crossing

Mahmoud Al-Zahar, a member of the Hamas leadership in Gaza, has revealed that the movement has come close to a good agreement for the opening of the Rafah crossing point with Egypt, explaining that what has been presented by Egypt on the issue is acceptable.

In an interview with Al Araby Al-Jadid newspaper on Thursday, Al-Zahar said that he hopes they would reach an agreement in the near future to ensure the opening of the crossing on a regular basis.

Long periods of closure at the crossing have made life difficult for Gaza’s inhabitants, as the crossing is Gaza’s only means of access to the outside world not under Israeli control.
