June 21, 2016 at 12:03 pm

Gaza’s construction workers have taken to working nights during the Islamic month of fasting, Ramadan.

The workers are digging into their jobs after they break their fast when they are able to drink and eat, and also when the temperatures are lower after sunset.

“Because of the accumulated economic pressure we have, we must work at night,” Salim Abdullah Wadi, a construction worker in the neighbourhood of Al-Zaytoun told MEMO.

“For me, I had several loans and I must work hard to pay them,” he said, “this is a chance to earn some money and pay for my family.
