Iraq’s federal judicial authority ordered the release of 10,373 detainees during May after they were not proven guilty, including 3,456 people who were being held on terror-related charges.
Abdul-Sattar Bayraqdar, the Iraqi judicial authority’s spokesperson, said on Monday that 8,999 of the detainees were released during the investigation phase and 1,374 were released while on trial.
Decisions were made in court cases involving 11,573 defendants in May, he said.
