Jerusalem’s Grand Mufti condemns presence of Israeli police vehicle in Al-Aqsa

June 22, 2016 at 9:50 am

Jerusalem’s Grand Mufti Mohammad Hussein, who is also the imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, yesterday denounced the recent Israeli violations in the mosque which included an Israeli police vehicle.

The Mufti said the process of changing Al-Aqsa’s historical status has dramatically accelerated. He held the Israeli authorities responsible for the consequences of such escalation.

Hussein noted that the Israeli aggression comes during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, adding that those who storm the mosque now include more members of the army and the intelligence apparatus, in addition to extremists.

He added that Muslims are facing increasing Israeli restriction with regard to entering the mosque, especially during Ramadan. The Israeli authorities have not only cancelled entry permits for Palestinians, but they have also adopted unjustified arbitrary measures to prevent Jerusalem’s residents from entering the mosque.
