Arab Israeli MK visits Barghouti in jail

June 23, 2016 at 10:35 am

Arab Member of the Israeli Knesset, Jamal Zahalka visited Fatah leader Marwan Barghouti in jail, in a first such visit by an Israeli official, the Wallah news website reported on Wednesday.

Zahalka spent two hours with Barghouti and discussed several issues, including the latest developments regarding Palestinian prisoners and the “fascist” Israeli government led by right-wing Benjamin Netanyahu.

During the meeting, Barghouti hailed the unity among Palestinians in Israel, namely the Joint List, the political party formed to encompass all Arab MKs.

Barghouti, who was arrested in 2004, is accused of killing five Israelis and being involved in four “terrorist” attacks, including an attack on a takeaway restaurant in Tel Aviv in 2002, when three Israelis were killed, the website said.
