The British Ambassador to Yemen Edmund Fitton-Brown has described an attack by Houthi forces and backed by loyalists of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh against a Yemeni government army site as a “a clear violation of the cessation of hostilities”.

He called the attack in the south of the country “unacceptable” in a tweet, adding that these attacks represent “a clear violation of the cessation of hostilities in Yemen”.

Fitton-Brown stressed the need for everyone to respect the cessation of hostilities in the country and to focus on reaching an agreement in the Yemeni consultations taking place in Kuwait.

A Spokesman for the Yemeni army Ali Nasr said rebels have tightened their control over Jabal Jalis after fierce fighting that lasted over two weeks.

The rebels have also intensified their attacks against army sites in the governorates of Al-Jawf and Marib according to pro-government sources.
