Turkish foreign minister: It’s not enough to express solidarity over Istanbul attack

July 1, 2016 at 2:38 pm

Following an attack on Istanbul’s international airport that left 42 dead this week, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said yesterday that expressing solidarity is “not enough”.

The Turkish politician made this remark during a press conference held in Brussels to announce the opening of Chapter 33 of Turkey’s European Union accession process. This chapter in the Acquis Communitaires, the EU’s body of laws and regulations that are binding on all EU member states, is related to government budget policies.

Cavusoglu said that he expects the EU to live up to its commitments related to allowing Turkish citizens to enter EU countries without having to obtain entry visas.
