The Israeli authorities have arrested 6,730 Palestinians and issued 950 administrative detention orders since October 2015, Quds Press reported the Palestinian Human Rights Commission as saying on Sunday.

The commission said 180 Palestinians out of the total number were arrested over alleged social media incitement.

In addition, it also stated that an estimated 65 Palestinian children were placed under house arrest and 18 others expelled from their hometowns during the first half of 2016.

The PLO’s Committee for Prisoners and Freed Prisoners said that 3,445 Palestinians were arrested by the Israeli authorities during the first half of 2016, noting that the arrest rate for Palestinians has increased by 50 per cent compared to the same period in 2015.

It stated that this figure included 712 children and 102 women.

It noted that 113 Palestinians, including 98 fishermen, were from the Gaza Strip.
