Dr. Yousef Jabarin, a member of the Knesset, has visited Sheikh Raed Salah in Ramon prison in the Negev following the Israeli department of homeland security’s reversal of its decision to not allow the visit.

During their meeting, Jabarin and Salah discussed the domestic political situation and the racist attack on the leaders of the Arab community, in addition to the risks of the “anti-terrorism law”, which was ratified by the Knesset recently.

They also exchanged opinions about the dangers of the violence phenomenon plaguing the Arab community and the need to develop strategies to address it.

Jabarin and Salah stressed on the importance of ensuring mutual respect within the community in order to hold the community fabric together in light of the enormous challenges it faces.

Jabarin confirmed that Sheikh Raed Salah has been placed in a solitary confinement cell that separates him from the rest of the prisoners. He also added that placing him in Ramon prison is a punishment for all members of his family due to the hardship of the long journey to the prison.
