PA condemns increasing settler terrorism

The Palestinian Authority (PA) Foreign Ministry yesterday condemned the increasing attacks by Israeli settlers against Palestinians, Safa news agency reported.

In a statement marking the first anniversary of kidnapping, burning and killed of Palestinian teen Mohamed Abu-Khdeir by Israeli settlers, the ministry reiterated that the continuation of such crimes shows the “absurdity” of the measures Israel is taking to stop them.

The measures Israel is taking against Abu-Khdeir’s killers prove that the Israeli government does not have a plan to “really” deter attackers, the ministry expllained.

“Settlers are still attacking and carrying out daily aggression against the Palestinian citizens and their properties, the last of which was the aggression at the Huwwara checkpoint at dawn on Sunday when a number of Palestinians were wounded,” the statement said.

It also said that a group of illegal settlers from the Kiryat Arab settlement organised a provocative gathering at the entrance of the occupied West Bank village of Bani Nain in the Hebron District, calling for Israeli forces to tighten the siege on the village.

Israel, the ministry said, never takes measures against rabbis who incite hatred and attacks against Palestinians.
