Israeli official: Palestinian issue does not concern Egypt

The Palestinian issue is of no concern to Egypt and statements made by Egyptian politicians on the matter are just words, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee at the Israeli Knesset said yesterday.

Speaking during a radio interview, Avi Dichter said Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry’s visit to Tel Aviv on Sunday was important but added that he was surprised President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi had not visited Israel yet.

The visit’s timing was no coincidence, Dichter added, noting that the Israeli-Turkish rapprochement had made Cairo uneasy.
