Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestinian: ‘Blair is not truthful mediator’

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestinian (PFLP) downplayed the role of the former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair regarding the achievement of peace in the region, Quds Press reported on Monday.

PFLP Spokesperson in exile Maher al-Taher commented on Blair’s short visit to Cairo and Israel, saying: “We, the PFLP, are persuaded that Blair is a war criminal as he was one of the partners in the war on Iraq and he committed war crimes.”

He added: “Blair must be prosecuted for war crimes and he does not serve anyone except the Zionist entity.”

Al-Taher noted that Israel is not “interested in peace, but in imposing its sovereignty over Jerusalem, liquidating the right of return and staying in the Golan Heights”. He added: “It is a racist entity which is hostile to peace.”

The leader of the PFLP explained: “We went for negotiations for a long time and the result was more settlements and crimes against our people. Therefore, there is no way in front of us except having a new strategy far from illusions because our enemy knows only the language of resistance.”

Blair was the Quartet representative, which was established in 2002 to achieve peace in the region, but he resigned in May 2015.

He contacted Hamas in the wake of 2014 Israeli offensive on Gaza to establish connections between it and some European countries in order to keep the ceasefire in the coastal enclave. The contacts stopped at a certain point without any comment from either side.
