Badie denies he's in poor health

July 15, 2016 at 11:44 am

The General Guide of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood Mohammed Badie yesterday denied media reports claiming he was in poor health and had to be transferred to El-Manial hospital in Cairo.

Badie’s lawyer, Abdel Moneim Abdel-Maqsoud, told the Anadolu Agency that his client has informed him that he is in good shape and was not transferred to hospital.

On Saturday, Badie’s family said it was “concerned about his health, after the authorities prevented them from visiting him in prison.”

He had complained that his family had been prevented from visiting him on five occasions.

Badie, 72, was arrested in August 2013 on charges of inciting violence in the aftermath of the Egyptian security forces dispersal of two Muslim Brotherhood sit-ins in Cairo.
