Hamas denies meeting with Dahlan reps in Lebanon

Hamas yesterday denied reports that its officials had met with representatives of ousted Fatah leader Mohamed Dahlan in Lebanon, Al-Resalah reported.

on Monday that an alleged meeting in Beirut with representative of the sacked, Al-Resalah newspaper reported.

Hamas spokesman Husam Badran said: “The news reports about a meeting with Dahlan’s representative in Beirut are untrue.”

Media reports had claimed Hamas officials had met with Dahlan’s representatives in Beirut in order to cooperate regarding the upcoming local elections.

Hamas has announced it would take part in the elections, which are due to be held on 8 October, and that it would facilitate conducting them on condition that they be transparent and that all factions respect the outcome.
