Egyptian gas investors criticise delay in issuing regulations

July 20, 2016 at 11:12 am

Investors in the Egyptian natural gas sector yesterday criticised the State Council’s delay in issuing regulations to govern the market, the Anadolu Agency reported.

Khalid Abu Bakr, the head of the Egyptian Gas Association, warned that the delays are deterring investors and so the regulations should be issued quickly.

In October 2015, the Egyptian government approved the regulations and directed the related authorities to approve them in preparation for parliament’s final endorsement.

The new regulations include specifying the rules and measures that organise the activities of the gas market and stipulate the establishment of an independent body that shapes these activities.
