Turkey summons its military attaché to Algeria

July 21, 2016 at 12:05 pm

Turkey has summoned its Military Attaché to Algeria Shamsuddin Aray for inquiry in the aftermath of the failed coup attempt on Friday, sources revealed.

Algeria’s Al-Raed newspaper reported yesterday that Turkey’s military attaché in the country, who was in Europe during the attempted coup, has answered the call.

“Turkish military attaché has tendencies towards Fethullah Gulen who the Turkish authorities accuse of being behind the failed coup,” the sources said.

The newspaper expected the Algerian authorities to cooperate with the Turkish authorities in the inquiry into the coup attempt, especially after Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika stressed his support for his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan during these “painful times”.
