GCC warns Iran: ‘We will have to impose sanctions’

July 22, 2016 at 11:56 am

“If Iran does not stop interfering in the affairs of other countries in the region, it will be necessary to return to sanctions,” the secretary-general of the GCC warned yesterday.

Sky News reported Abdullatif Bin Rashid Al-Zayani making the declaration in a press release released on the organisation’s website.

GCC member states and Iran have long differed on the outcomes they wish for in the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. The foreign minister of Bahrain has described Iran as the “Republic of Evil.” While the Saudi Foreign Minister, Adel Al-Jubeir, said that Hezbollah and Iran are responsible for the political vacuum in Lebanon.
