Turkey’s Minister of Science, Industry and Technology has revealed that the industrial sector in the country grew by 4.3 per cent during the first half of this year. Faruk Özlü said in a statement on Monday that industrial production during the month of June alone rose by 1.1 per cent compared to the same period last year. The figures have been published by the Turkish Statistical Authority.

According to the minister, industrial production continues to rise, even though it is slightly below expectations. Nevertheless, Özlü stressed that industrial production is an indication of the country’s economic growth and the driving force behind it.

“Industrial growth in the first six months of this year, which comes despite uncertainty in overseas markets and the turmoil around Turkey,” he explained, “is an indication of the country’s rapid growth.”
