Malaysia reaffirms support for Palestine

August 17, 2016 at 12:03 pm

Malaysia’s prime minister stressed on Tuesday his country’s support and solidarity with Palestine and its moves on regional and international levels.

Mohammad Najib Abdul Razak made his comments during a meeting with Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki. He pointed out that Malaysia rejects Israeli policies and violations of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy city of Jerusalem.

Al-Maliki is reported to have briefed the Malaysian prime minister about the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel’s ongoing violations of international laws and conventions. “The Israeli government’s insistence on continuing its settlement policy,” he explained, “and its rejection of calls from the international community to stop building settlements destroys the possibility of achieving a two-state solution.”

The foreign minister conveyed the appreciation of the Palestinian government and people to Prime Minister Abdul Razak for his country’s support.
