3 Palestinian minors held without charge in Israel’s Ofer prison

Three Palestinian minors are currently being held without charge or trial in Israel’s Ofer prison, the Palestinian Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs said yesterday.

The three, all under the age of 18, were identified as Ahmad Nimr, Luay Nairoukh, and Hamzeh al-Silwadi

Israel is holding the boys, all under 18, under administrative detention in violation of all international laws, committee lawyer Luay Akkeh said.

The controversial policy which allows for the detention of Palestinians without charge or trial based on undisclosed evidence.

According to figures sent to the group by the Israel Prison Service (IPS), the number of Palestinian minors held without charge or trial in Israeli prisons rose steadily from October, with four minors held in administrative detention in October 2015, while 13 minors were reportedly held at the end of April this year.
