The Turkish foreign ministry has recalled 300 diplomats working in foreign missions to the country for questioning over the failed military coup last month, Al-Arabiya news channel reported.

According to the news channel, sources in the Turkish foreign ministry said that Turkey plans to temporarily discharge diplomats who it believes have links to the Fethullah Gulen Organization, adding that the rest of the diplomats can return to their missions after the completion of the investigation.

Ankara blames cleric Fethullah Gulen, who lives in self-exile in the United States, for the failed coup attempt which took place in mid-July.
