1,900 Israelis raided Al-Aqsa in August, report says

Some 1,898 Israelis raided Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of Israeli police and army officers, a report issued by a Palestinian NGO said yesterday.

The Media Centre for Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Affairs said Israelis enter the compound through Al- Mughrabi Gate.

According to the report, the number included 1,723 settlers, 84 intelligence officers, 19 military officers and 72 government employees from the Israeli Antiquities Authority.

Israeli security forces secure visits to the Islamic holy site from Sunday to Thursday. There have been international calls for Israel to stop the raids which anger Palestinians.
