Israeli intelligence report confirms 27-year-old Palestinian man killed 'by accident'

September 6, 2016 at 10:58 pm

Mustafa Nimer, a 27-year-old Palestinian man who was shot dead by Israeli police during a raid on Shufat Refugee Camp, North West of Jerusalem, early Monday morning was killed “by mistake” according to Israeli intelligence officials.

According to Maan News, the family of Nimer, whose 25-year old brother in law was also injured in the attack, was summoned to a police station in the Beit Hanina district of East Jerusalem on Tuesday, 6 September 2016, and told that there would be an investigation launched into the attack.

Though initially, an Israeli police spokesperson sought to blame the incident on the two men themselves. She accused him of seeking to ram police and stated that they “ignored the orders and continued to drive swiftly towards the officers apparently with the intention to harm them.”

However, today Nimer’s father, Talal, told Maan that that the Israeli police confirmed the two men “were not attempting to carry out an attack” when they were killed.

Talal Nimer went on to state, “Israeli soldiers do not value human souls and they kill for many reasons and have different excuses, as if they are hunting birds.”
