Saudi makes drugs test a must before marriage

Saudi Arabia is set to impose a compulsory drugs test as a precondition for men, mainly foreigners, who want to get married to Saudi women, Moheet.com reported yesterday.

According to the Saudi newspaper Okaz, this would reduce the embarrassment should the women or their families want such a test to take place.

The Saudi newspaper noted that there had been official and non-official calls for taking such a decision which had been a major cause for family disputes that led to divorce.

Last month, the Saudi newspaper Al-Hayat published a report about divorce among Saudis who were married of foreigners.

The paper said most foreign men who divorced Saudi women were Yemeni.
