Iranian Kurds receive US military training

Iranian Kurds received military training from US and European advisers as part of the international programme backing the Kurds against Daesh in the region, AP has reported.

The news agency reported the Kurdish Freedom Party's commander Hussein Yazdanpana said: "They helped and trained us within the framework of the fight against Daesh."

The group is amongst a number of Kurdish factions that have carried out attacks in Iran.

Iranian Kurdish fighters have waged an on-again, off-again insurgency in mainly Kurdish areas of northwestern Iran near the Iraqi border, complaining of discrimination by Tehran and demanding independence for Kurds.
