US soldier dies in Kuwait

An American soldier died in Kuwait on Saturday, the US Department of Defence announced.

The soldier was killed in a vehicular accident while travelling to the Ali Al Salem Air Base. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.

The Ali Al Salem Air base is located 39 miles from the Iraqi border. It provides combat rescue, theatre airlift, aeromedical evacuation, air surveillance and control, theatre ballistic missile defence, as well as force protection, combat support and the ability to survive and operate for coalition air, ground and other operations.
