Israel jails former Palestinian minister

Former Palestinian Prisoner Minister Wasfi Qabha was sentenced to 12 months in jail by an Israeli court yesterday for taking part in activities in solidarity with Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails, Quds Press reported.

The minister was also given an 18-month suspended jail term and fined 2,000 shekels ($550), his family said.

Family of the minister said that the Israeli court also sentenced him to 18-month suspended jail and fine of 2,000 Shekels ($550).

Qabha was arrested from his house in Jenin in May this year and is currently being locked up in the Israeli prison of Megiddo.

The minister, who spent a total of 12 years in Israeli jails, suffers from diabetes and hypertension and is need of medical care.
