Netanyahu approves Abbas’ request to attend Peres’ funeral

September 29, 2016 at 6:55 pm

Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved a request by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to attend the funeral of former Israeli President Shimon Peres.

Maariv news site reported that Netanyahu approved Abbas’ request along with Fatah officials Muhammad Al-Madani, Majed Faraj, Hussein Al-Sheikh and Saeb Erekat to attend the funeral which will be held in Tel Aviv.

The requests were made through the Israeli Coordinator of Government Activities in the West Bank, Major General Yoav Mordechai.

Abbas had sent a cable of condolences to Peres’ family describing him as a partner for peace, a view many disagree with.
