October 5, 2016 at 5:38 pm

A number of officials from the state-owned Egyptian radio and Television Union (ERTU) have been referred to a disciplinary court after they aired an old interview with the country’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

On 21 September, the Administrative Prosecution Authority (APA) noted that an old interview PBS conducted with Al-Sisi was aired instead of a more recent one held during the latest sessions of the UN General Assembly in New York a couple of weeks ago.

Its head, Counselor Ali Rizk, immediately opened an investigation into the matter and instructed the relevant authorities to take action after investigations are held, stressing the negative impact such an error could have on the Egypt’s global image.

Having completed the investigations, the prosecution decided to take disciplinary action against those responsible.
