Trump's VP pick defends ban on refugees

October 5, 2016 at 3:31 am

Mike Pence, the Republican party’s nominee for Vice President has defended his a decision he took as governor of Indiana to ban refugees from the state, despite Federal court censure.

Speaking in the campaign’s only vice presidential debate, Governor Pence told the audience “I stand by that decision” referring to his executive order – issued Monday – to ban the resettlement of refugees in Indiana, despite the fact that a the 6th circuit appellant court has ruled unanimously that it is unlawful.

Indeed in ruling against Pence, the Federal made numerous comparisons between this law and racist laws against African Americans in the past.

Before becoming Donald Trump’s running-mate Pence had opposed the so-called ‘Muslim Ban’

However, in the debate he came under harsh attacks from his democratic opponent, Tim Kaine, who highlighted the bigoted nature of the republican position:

We want to keep people out if they’re dangerous … Donald Trump said, ‘keep them out if they’re Muslim.’
