Tunisian has extended its state of emergency for a further three months effective from today, the country’s President Beji Caid Essebsi announced yesterday.

The state of emergency was decreed on 24 November 2015, following the terrorist attack on a presidential guard bus in Mohamed V Avenue in Tunis that left 12 dead and injured 20 others. It was later extended for one month in September.

For his part, Prime Minister Youssef Al Shahed has continued policies set in place by his predecessor Habib Essid to restore the country’s stability, combat crimes and confront terrorism.

Security officials confirmed that security campaigns had started this week across the country.
