Yemeni pro-government Armed Forces declared the killing of 30 militants from among the Houthi fighters and their allies, who are loyal to the former president Ali Abdullah Saleh. Army casualties were witnessed during clashes in the town of Midi in northwestern Yemen.

The Yemeni army’s Media Centre said in a statement on Wednesday that the army forces, backed by popular resistance and coalition forces, launched a massive offensive on militias’ sites in the west coast of Yemen, close to Midi town; the army managed to break through Midi’s western area and free various sites that were ruled by Houthis.

The centre added that militias have incurred heavy losses, as 30 militants were injured and an army personnel was killed. In addition, several strategic sites towards Midi were freed.

Midi district, a coastal area bordering the Red Sea province, has been witnessing clashes since December 2015, where pro-government Yemeni forces broke through from Saudi Arabia’s border side, and took control of many sites.
