October 24, 2016 at 2:39 pm

Qatar has announced its willingness to purchase defence equipment from Pakistan and has highlighted the potential for future co-operation between the two countries. Qatar’s Defence Minister Khalid Bin Mohammad Al Attiyah expressed to Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain the Gulf state’s keenness to purchase defence equipment and hardware from Pakistan.

Hussain then called upon Qatar to increase migrant quotas for Pakistani workers and relax visa requirements for them. The Pakistani premier was in Doha on a four-day official visit where he reiterated the importance of the close diplomatic relations between his country and Qatar and reiterated that the two countries must take advantage of their “shared values” to strengthen ties. Al Attiyah is scheduled to visit Pakistan for two days on 27 October for further negotiations on the defence agreement.
