American report: Algeria likely heading to unstable future

October 26, 2016 at 12:24 pm

Algeria is likely to be hit by the second wave of the Arab Spring, Quds Press yesterday reported an American research centres saying.

Senior leader of the Islamic Salvation Front, Sheikh Ali Belhaj, told Quds Press that “Algerians are not in need for such American reports to recognise that their country is gradually heading to the unknown.”

He added: “In fact, the American researches, which warned of deteriorating political, economic and security situations in the country, did not bring anything new. Daily reports of our Algerian security services about protests, crimes and looting are enough to show that we are in a very bad situation.”

Belhaj stressed that the political, economic and security situation in the country “are not OK”, noting this is “well-recognised by the wise people in the country”.

The senior leader of the main opposition in the country considered that the resignation of Ammar Saadani from the office of the Liberation Front Party due to health claims was a “message” to Algerians.

He noted that President Abdelaziz Bouteflika had better resign.
