Israel arrests prominent Palestinian activist

October 26, 2016 at 3:12 pm

Israeli occupation forces at dawn yesterday arrested a prominent Palestinian activist and leader from Al-Mubadara (Palestine National Initiative), the party founded by Mustafa Barghouti.

Salah Khawaja was seized from his home in Ramallah and taken to an unknown location.

Barghouti, secretary-general of Al-Mubadara, condemned the detention.

The Popular Struggle Coordination Committee also denounced the arrest, calling it a “desperate attempt to oppress the popular struggle movement, which has become a major factor in exposing Israeli occupation and its crimes against the Palestinian people.”

Israel has stepped up its campaign to quash Palestinians and internationals who are speaking out against its occupation of Palestinian land.
