October 28, 2016 at 1:09 pm

Italy is donating €3 million for emergency action in Palestine to support and enhance basic services to the most densely populated areas, a statement issued by the country’s foreign ministry said.

“This funding is provided by the General Directorate for Cooperation and Development, associated with the Italian foreign ministry. The funding will be focused in East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.”

The grant will be directed to fund measures to ensure decent living conditions for refugees, including those at risk of being forced to move from their homes, as it will provide them with housing solutions, the ministry explained.

The statement also noted that “the grant also aims to support initiatives to face the cold season, improving access to safe drinking water, reconstruct roads and power grids, and the distribution of water for agricultural use.”

“This will be carried out by various Italian civil society organisations currently active in the concerned areas.”
