Secretary-General of Kuwait’s Supreme Council for Planning and Development Khaled Mahdi said that “according to the latest statistics in 2014, expatriate labour force in Kuwait stood at 2.42 million people or 60 per cent of the country’s total population”.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Mahdi said: “Kuwait has committed on September 25 2015 during the United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development to adopt the 2030 agenda for sustainable development which contains 17 goals for after 2015.”

“Kuwait was able to achieve a significant part of the sustainable development goals with the determination to be among the first nations to fulfil all the objectives,” Kuwait’s Al-Rai newspaper quoted him saying.

For his part, deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower Abdullah Al-Mutawtah stressed that Kuwait’s respect for international agreements and acknowledgement of human rights makes it its duty to provide a healthy environment for workers and protect them from industrial dangers and professional ailments.
