Saudi oil firm Aramco did not deliver oil shipments to Egypt for the second consecutive month, Hamdi Abdul-Aziz, the official spokesman of the Egyptian oil ministry, was reported to have said yesterday.

According to AlKhaleejOnline, Egypt’s Al-Watan newspaper reported Abdul-Aziz saying: “For the second month, the Saudi company did not inform Egypt about the suspension of the shipment,” noting that it had previously sent shipments on time.

He was also reported by Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper as saying: “Until now, there has been no confirmation or denial from Aramco regarding the resumption of the shipments to Egypt.”

The Saudi oil giant did not comment on the reports.

Last month, Egypt was forced to look for alternative sources for oil. It reached a deal with Iraq to import oil from Basra. Other reports said that it had also contacted Iran for the same purpose.
